RHODO ROYALTY

Picture
2019 Rhodo Royal Family The McKenzies and 2018 Rhodo Princess, Amy Antaw

In the interests of equal opportunity (and why shouldn't a chap be a royal – look at Prince Harry!) this year, the Rhodo Festival committee is looking for a Princess or Prince.

Are you a Blackheath resident, aged 18 to 80 with a pleasant demeanour and a love for our beautiful town.
Applications are open for 2019’s Rhodo Royalty.

As our regal personage, you will:

– represent the Festival Committee as an ambassador and attend all Festival events as a VIP
– be available, where appropriate, during the Festival period 25 October to 24 November
– be available for Festival-related occasions between October 2019 and November 2020 and help crown your successor
– attend the Festival and Art Show opening on 25 October
– obviously attend your own royal crowning on Rhodo Day 2 November and deliver a short but inspirational speech, eg “I declare before you all that my whole year, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great Blackheathen family to which we all belong”…either that or “Thank you, I’m thrilled” – you get the picture
– lead the parade, smile, wave regally, be photographed, and mingle with the peasantry afterwards
– attend the Rhodo Revue at least once (15 to 17 November – dates to be confirmed)
– share with the local Primary School(s) what it means to be Rhododendron Royalty
– sell tickets for the Festival raffle at Festival events
– organise at least one fund raising event or activity with the assistance of the Festival Committee
– have fun!
